Our newest publication, Historic Helensburgh, is an up-to-date comprehensive coverage of the local history of Helensburgh and surrounding villages, the book contains 72 glossy pages with over 180 photographs in black & white or full colour.
Along with a chapter on First Nations History by local author Kieran Tapsell, a number of our members have contributed to the book. Some of our previous publications have been summarised and used to complete this updated edition. This book replaces the little booklet produced for Helensburgh’s Centenary in 1984, and reprinted in 2009, which was nearly 40 years out of date. Other chapters used the Historical Society’s collection of local community newspapers as a source of information. The new book was edited by Society secretary, Janet Lee, who also selected the photos to accompany the text.
