Open Day At The Old Mine Surgery

To celebrate Heritage Week, Helensburgh & District Historical Society will be having an Open Day at our small museum and resource centre, the Old Mine Surgery, 78 Parkes Street, Helensburgh, on Sunday 24 April, 10 am to 3 pm.

Historic Waratah March Re-enactment

As a further remembrance of World War I, a 100 years re-enactment of the south coast recruiting Waratah March was held on Saturday 12 December 2015. At the conclusion of the march a memorial ceremony was held at the Helensburgh War Memorial in Charles Harper Park. The Helensburgh & District Historical Society presented a display relating to Helensburgh men and WWI. We also provided a LEAFLET with information on the men who volunteered at Stawell Park and Helensburgh on 14 December 1915.


Historic Waratah March Re-enactment, Saturday 12 December 2015

On Saturday 12 December, the Waratah March Re-enactment will take place in Helensburgh starting at the library at 10.30 am. It will proceed down Walker Street, along Parkes Street to the War Memorial in Charles Harper Park. At the Memorial a short service will be held. The Historical Society will be presenting a display related to World War I in the Rotunda in the Park.
